Really interesting responses to my issues with the teacher being sentenced to 13 years in prison.

My passion around this is fair punishment. She broke the law but is 13 years the right punishment?

The only law broken to my knowledge…she was a teacher, he was a student.

The age of consent in Arkansas is 16. This boy was 17. Are you saying that it should be illegal for a 33 yr old to have sex with a 17 yr old if both consent?

I NEVER said it was ok, just that 13 years seemed a bit harsh.

And no, I won’t imagine it the other way around because this case wasn’t the other way around. A 17/18 yr old male is very different from a 17/18 yr old female.

That seems kinda harsh, doesn’t it? Not sure of the details but if she actually raped him then fine but if they just had sex and the “rape” was statutory while he was 17 or 18 then I’m a bit shocked.
