2 things I enjoy 👉🏼 1) my morning cuppa joe, 2) watching early morning Black kites gracefully flying low & in numbers over my living room window. But when u combine both it’s BLISS! Reduce life expectations, cant beat the simple things in life to optimise #MentalHealth #Gibraltar
Beautiful batch of Common poppy (Papaver rhoeas) at Europa Foreshore trail #Gibraltar with Jebel Musa in the background, two continents and the intersection between the Mediterranean sea and Atlantic ocean. Large fall of Melodious & Willow warblers too
When theres no power why not try connecting with nature instead, just looked out and spotted a fine Sparrowhawk arriving low over Rosia Bay #Gibraltar
Willow Warblers refreshing themselves at the Alameda Gardens Gibraltar #Gibraltar as they take a break on their migratory journey between tropical Africa and northern Europe.
Lots of Raptors coming through Black kite, Booted eagle, Sparrowhawk, but notably a tangible increase in Marsh harriers in the past few hours #Gibraltar
Passage of Black kites this AM over #Gibraltar …now just spotted a lovely female Hen harrier passing overhead, not seeing them very often lately as numbers r going down in Europe due to nest and habitat (Moorland) destruction.
3 Jackdaw-sized corvids heading N high over Sandy Bay (no bins), flying like Jackdaws but cannot rule out any of the Chough spp which can readily be seen at this time of the year #Gibraltar
Just hearing my first Pallid swifts of the year in the late evening sunset. I always look forward to their lovely sounds to mark the arrival of Spring. They are amazing birds, skilful fliers that can eat, drink, mate & rest on the wing! #Gibraltar
Hundreds of Black kites now arriving over the southern district from the Strait #Gibraltar
Important notice by #Gibraltar Dept of Env re: avoid tree / hedge cutting in bird breeding season Mar - 30th June 👉🏼 bit.ly/3veveMz IMO also important not to publicise nesting locations, as well as ethical & responsible birding / bird photography viewing breeding species
Massive swarm of raptors arriving now, chiefly Black kites and Short-toed eagle, covering the whole breadth of the western strait slowly drifting towards Gibraltar. Such a big wave that it makes Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘The Birds’ look like child’s play! Look out west now #Gibraltar
Hundreds of Black kites arriving very early this AM over Parson’s Lodge #Gibraltar streams visible all across the Strait, spectacular! Circa 500 individuals at one view
