I was proud to represent 🇬🇧 overseas but our university sector does not just project influence overseas, it is absolutely vital for the industry, economy and wellbeing of cities like Lincoln. Our universities are no less vital and important because they aren’t in Russell group.

Thank you to The News Agents for discussing the impact on universities & local communities of current government policies aiming to restrict numbers of overseas students. And a special thank you to University of York Vice Chancellor Prof Charlie Jeffrey for making the case so eloquently.

I'm old enough to have worked in and around Lincoln for many years before University of Lincoln, UK was established. The presence of the university, its students and staff, has changed the city immeasurably and always for the better.

Found the first article I published on shortwave radio as a teenager in Shortwave Magazine. From that to PhD to first book. I miss listening to shortwave.

Modelling suggests that attacking the foreign student route could wipe 0.5% off GDP! And therefore cause a recession on its own I suppose. Britain's own government has gone rogue and is threatening us all. thetimes.co.uk/article/c480fb…

Extremely poor optics. Such behaviour undermines ’s soft power located in its political culture. Focuses attention on the immaturity of Taiwan’s democracy. Not the image it should be presenting at these uncertain times
