This morning, our RPU in Tipperary conducted active patrols, monitoring speeds in East Clare & North Tipperary. Here are some examples of speeds observed in 50km zones, with FCNs issued in each case. Please drive safely this weekend & allow sufficient journey time. #SaferRoads

Two motorists stopped for traffic offences by Roscommon RPU on active patrol in Roscommon Town in recent days. Both underwent oral fluid tests for drugs, returned positive tests for Cannabis and were subsequently arrested. Investigations are ongoing. Never Ever DUI #SaferRoads

We were on patrol in Cork City when we were alerted by the #MobilityApp that this car had no insurance.

They were stopped and the driver tested positive for cannabis and was also found to have no license.

The driver was arrest and the car was seized.

Court to follow.

⚠️M9 Traffic⚠️

The M9 is closed between:
⛔️Junction 8 (Kilkenny) & Junction 9 (Kilkenny South) Southbound
⛔️Junction 4 (Castledermot) & Junction 3 (Athy) Northbound

Due to separate incidents on the road overnight. Motorists are advised to take alternative routes where possible.

Delays are expected at Junction 17 on the M6 outside Athenry today, following an incident on the road.

Motorists are advised to divert from Junction 16 at Kiltulla where possible while delays are ongoing.

Following complaints from local residents, we carried out a speed checks on the Barretstown Road in Newbridge.

Several motorists were found travelling well above the limit of 60kph.

They were all issued a €160 fine and three penalty points.

We were on patrol in Cork when were alerted by the ANPR device that this car had no insurance.

They were stopped and it was found that the driver was an unaccompanied learner who tested positive for cannabis.

The car was seized, court to follow.

⚠️EAST CORK TRAFFIC⚠️

Gardaí and emergency services are at the scene of a road traffic collision on the N25 near Midleton.

The N25 is currently closed between Midleton and Castlemartyr and local diversions are in place via Mogeely.

⚠️Kerry Traffic Alert⚠️

The N69 (Listowel to Tralee road) is currently closed between Tanavalla and the junction for Laccamore due to a collision in the area.

Traffic diversions are in place.

Clare Roads Policing Unit were on patrol when they were alerted to an ANPR notification for this car.

The insurance disc looks fine but the insurance database confirmed that the policy was cancelled a day after it was taken out.

The car was seized and the driver faces court.

We were on patrol in Bellurgan when we saw this truck breaking the speed limit, travelling at 93kph in a 50kph area.

They were stopped and they will appear before the courts.

The DMR East Roads Policing Unit carried out a joint agency checkpoint with the RSA Ireland at Black Rock recently.

Ten vehicles were stopped and ten notices were issued by the RSA for various defects and we issued a FCPN to driver not wearing their seatbelt.

Gardaí were holding a checkpoint at Rathangan, Co. Kildare when they spotted the driver of this car try to avoid them by turning into the driveway of a residence that wasn't theirs.

Turned out that the driver had never held a driving licence, and had no insurance.

When Gardaí stopped the van, they discovered that the teenage driver was an unaccompanied learner with no L plates on display.

There were also three passengers travelling in this two passenger vehicle.

Gardaí on patrol in Gorey detected this van being driven over the speed limit along the N80.

As they set-off to stop the driver, they observed him commit several dangerous driving offences while he also continued to drive at speed.

Naas Gardaí carried out a checkpoint om Naas recently.

Two cars were seized, one for being driven by an unaccompanied learner driver and another driver had on licence or insurance.

Both cars were seized. Proceedings are to follow.

-Kildare Street
-Merrion Square West
-Molesworth Street

While Dublin City Centre remains open for business, rolling road closures may be implemented during the day.

We welcomed 186 new Trainee Gardai into the Garda College today. Intake 241 have begun their 36 weeks training.

We also welcomed back the 168 Trainee Gardai in Intake 234 for Stage 3. They are due to be attested on the 28th of June 2024.
