13 years ago on Saturday April 16th 2011 was a day a lot of us in NC will remember as it was the greatest one-day outbreak in history.

NCSU has released their initial forecast for the 2024 Atlantic Tropical Season. Much like the CSU forecast, it calls for an active season. The combination of a La Nina & above average ocean temperatures in the Atlantic, are expected to lead to more tropical activity this season.

Showers & storms continue to move southeastward toward NC. Overall the activity has weakened. Note the line highlighted by the arrows. That's an outflow boundary, a push of air created by the storms. Strong, gusty winds will be associated with that line as it moves through.

While snowfall totals were well below normal this winter, 2024 has been quite wet across much of the Eastern US. The total precipitation (rainfall and liquid equivalent of any snow/sleet/ice) so far during 2024 as of 5 pm Sat April 13th has been above normal at most locations.
