Simon Partridge Suzanne Zeedyk Isobel Ross Fania Oz-Salzberger 🇮🇱🟣⚖️ פניה עוז-זלצברגר I read this wonderful piece the other day, Simon. Thanks for the suggestion. I will, of course, mention this. Aside from various difficulties with our Western construct of #ptsd , there is simply nothing 'post' in what the children of #Gaza are suffering.
Jane Mulcahy PhD (she/her) Simon Partridge Suzanne Zeedyk Isobel Ross Just wondering: can Israeli Jews count as traumatized too, or are we too white-colonialist for the label?
Fania Oz-Salzberger 🇮🇱🟣⚖️ פניה עוז-זלצברגר Jane Mulcahy PhD (she/her) Suzanne Zeedyk Isobel Ross I come from an Anglo-French-Bengali colonial family which left Bihar in 1942 after 150 years. Did we traumatise [& sleep with] the indigenous, Yes. Is my family traumatised, Yes. I suggest we are all involved in a complicated & v painful reckoning. I recognise your pain, Fania.
Simon Partridge Jane Mulcahy PhD (she/her) Suzanne Zeedyk Isobel Ross Simon, my family is not colonialist, and if you think so we are back to square one. Five of my relatives were killed in wars and Palestinian terror attacks. A whole branch survived 7/10 in Kibbutz Nir Am, whose civil guard managed to keep Hamas out. I respect your family’s plight
Fania Oz-Salzberger 🇮🇱🟣⚖️ פניה עוז-זלצברגר Jane Mulcahy PhD (she/her) Suzanne Zeedyk Isobel Ross Your family came from eastern Europe to Israel for good reasons. To that extent you are a colonist; I think your father owned that. I think you have good reason to be in Israel, within UN recognised borders. I fully recognise your trauma within these limits.
