My first tweet ever. I am super happy to see our most recent paper about AGO4 slicing and retention of RNAs in RNA-directed DNA methylation now published in Genes & Development. I really appreciate all the co-authors and all members of the Pikaard Lab!

#MimulusPropaganda The invincible Mei Liang strikes again. She found the speciation gene in monkeyflowers, YUP, is a taxon-specific non-coding gene producing phased siRNAs. YUP derived from a partial inverted duplication of a source gene that has nothing to do with flower color.

Great work of authors Fultz, McKinlay and Enganti to fully sequence the Arabidopsis NORs (adding the final missing ~9.4 Mbp of the genome), and map the positions of active and silenced rRNA genes within them, is now published, open access ! science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…
