WAI Orbit! Vandenberg pt. 2!

What do you know about Vandenberg SFB?

SpaceX & ULA lease these pads.

SpaceX uses SLC-4 for Falcon 9 launches.
ULA uses SLC-3 for Atlas V and, in the future, for Vulcan Centaur!

Interesting: I seem to have caught entirely shrouded by vapor as it transitioned to supersonic this afternoon. There is only one frame that looks like this.

The only processing I did was auto-tone and a wee bit of sharpening. Nikon Z8 for the win.

I just read a comment from someone asking, 'How do Rockets get through the firmament on their way up?'

What would be a good response to that? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

The view from the top of SpaceX's Mechazilla must be breathtaking, even on a hazy day like today! πŸ‘€

That is human-made space debris, an old rocket upper stage, orbiting Earth. The smart folks at Astroscale have just flown up next to it, proving their tech. Next time they'll grab & deorbit it, cleaning up a big piece. An excellent start!

This gives a nice perspective on how large these SpaceX Starship Chopsticks actually are.

See the tiny workers? πŸ”Ž

Falcon 9 B1060, seen launching in the background on its 14th flight, will support it's 20th, and final mission tomorrow. This will set a new record for the most flown booster to support a commercial mission, and tie the current flight mark of 20 launches currently held by B1062.
