The Friends have fought a dogged battle in the courts. They stopped the owners building on graves but they still haven't got them to maintain the cemetery

But the council must serve an enforcement notice for the owners to unlock the gates.
(Unless a padlock broke or a gate came off its hinges first: accidentally without damage, of course)

Bad news for families & former residents of Calderstones Mental Hospital, whose friends & families' graves are under threat once again from a property speculator who wants to build on the graveyard.
Last I heard they've still blocked a right of way across the cemetery
