Just explored a remarkable 1623 volume, 'Generale Kerckelicke Historie', penned by Rosweydus of the Jesuit order. With engravings designed by P.P. Rubens and crafted by L. Vorsterman, this work epitomizes the rich tapestry of #bookhistory in the early modern Low Countries.

Countless productive conversations, a few mussels and just over 10,000 photos later, and Louisa is back in blighty working on the next paper/article. Thanks to Kristof, Steven and Derek as always. You must visit Museum Plantin-Moretus and Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library whenever you can get to Antwerp!

Medieval manuscripts can teach us a lot about recycling. Paper and parchment were precious materials and often got reused. Look at this early medieval century codex with a leaf from a musical manuscript in its binding.

This is a Public Service Announcement about wearing white cotton gloves when handling archives…
DON’T DO IT!
