Eric Nonlin.Org if the case is heads I win tails you lose, then why does science find and throw out fraudulent fossils?
I would actually claim that it is religion that is that way. you either believe it without evidence or don't. there is no way to prove or disprove it, it can't be falsified.
Alf Benny 🧢 Nonlin.Org I'm a Christian because the bulk of evidence supports fine tuning in phsyics and design in biology. The bible has many patterns that match what we'd expect real history to look like, but opposite what we'd expect from fabrication.
Alf Benny 🧢 Nonlin.Org And certain prophecies and the shroud of Turin don't have good explanations unless Christianity is true. If this were not the case then I wouldn't be a Christian.
Alf Benny 🧢 Nonlin.Org I disagree with the people who say there are 300 prophecies of Jesus. Most are indeed vague, and with many we don't have the means to prove the prophecy came before the event, or that the event's fulfillment really happened.
Alf Benny 🧢 Nonlin.Org However, one exception is the prophecy of weeks in Daniel 9:25-26, which I go through in this thread: twitter.com/Eric_BereanArc…
Alf Benny 🧢 Nonlin.Org The shroud's C14 dated a repaired corner. Prior to the 1988 carbon dating, archaeologists Bill Meacham and Paul Maloney, as well as textile expert John Tyrer, each independently warned not to sample from the bottom-left corner because it looked like it wasn't original material.
Alf Benny 🧢 Nonlin.Org And King Umberto II said his family hired Vittorio Amedeo II and Sebastiano Valfre in 1694 to repair tattered edges of the shroud. But Harry Gove excluded most researchers who'd previously studied the shroud and they cut all 3 1988 C14 samples from that same bottom left corner.
Alf Benny 🧢 Nonlin.Org Later, other researchers like Ray Rogers found cotton and other threads dyed in that corner so they'd look like old linen.
I cite this and more in an article I wrote on the shroud's 1988 carbon dating: bereanarchive.org/articles/histo…
Alf Benny 🧢 Nonlin.Org It's an expensive ancient linen burial shroud w/ forensically accurate scourge/nail/spear wounds & limestone dust matching Jerusalem tombs. A heightmap of crucified Jesus is flash-irradiated into the top 200nm of its fibers.
