Thousands of birds migrate to #OntarioPlace yearly to breed.
They nest under structures, like the pods over water.
Netting that has been put up stops these birds from nesting, jeopardizing their breeding habitats and population.
On #WorldMigratoryBirdDay , protect our wildlife.
Awesome day of field research McMaster University McMaster Faculty of Science collecting the prey of European starling nestlings in collaboration with ECCC SciTech!

That was fast! Tree swallows don’t waste time. Thanks Feather Friendly for pitching in to cover the cost to replace their home on campus. By the way, the highest-risk windows on buildings in all four directions surrounding this site have been treated for bird safety 😊
Fun day putting up passive air samplers on tree swallow nest boxes McMaster University Forest and other sites with ECCC SciTech! Also spotted my first milk snake this year! 🪺
As we prepare for #WorldMigratoryBirdDay , celebrating the importance of insects and birds who eat them, remember that one of largest colonies of swifts and swallows in Ontario is currently being blocked from its breeding territory so the Ford government can build its luxury spa.
Thanks Richard Cannings for presenting Petition e-4673 in the House of Commons today urging the federal government to enact legislation that will conserve nature in Canada by implementing the Global Biodiversity Framework.
