NEW: The LASD deputy who was shot has been with the department for over a decade. He is a motor deputy assigned to LASD Century Station in Lynwood. He was en route to a work training when he was shot while stopped at a red light. Fox News

Thankfully, the deputies' bullet proof vest stopped the bullet from seriously injuring him.
