The second male Buff-tailed Bumblebee I've seen in Herts in the last week. Seems gynes from overwintering colonies are overlapping with 'hibernated' queens now. Anyone else seeing similar? @MadgwickTony Steven Falk Charlotte Rankin ?

This is a female Tenthredo zona, a Sawfly. It caught my eye as it looked like a vespoid wasp from a distance - nr Wanstead Park. Appears to be the first record for East London and possibly second London record (21iv24). Larvae feed on St John's Wort . Rose Stephensπ·ππΈππ¦π»π¦ WREN Group
Very cool to see that the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh is hosting a tracking study on Hairy-footed Flower Bees. They have only reached this far north in the past 10 years. Maybe a study by The University of Edinburgh ?
