Your school French is a gateway to several continents, your introduction to Spanish, Italian & Portuguese, your first step towards German, Arabic & Chinese, a cultural revelation, another outlook on every subject. Languages make a real difference to everyone, 'linguist' or not.

It could be the Welsh that's been in your family for generations, the BSL that transforms your world, the Polish or Ukrainian that defines your identity or the school French or German that sparks a love of languages. Whatever your motivation, another language is a huge advantage.

An early start today for our S5 and S6 young people travelling to China for a unique immersion experience with our partners Confucius Institute for Scotland’s Schools . Everyone now safely boarded and ready for a nap. Next stop: Beijing! 🇨🇳

Day 9 ✅Eric Liddell centenary sports day, where we teamed up with our partner schools to compete against other Scottish and Chinese students. We also visited local schools and families in their homes. We are very grateful for their hospitality!🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇨🇳

This week, some pupils in primary 7 started a Malayalam Lunchtime Club. Week one involved learning how to say numbers 1-5 in Malayalam and even challenged pupils to find where Malayalam the language originated from on a map! EastRenLanguages
