A ground operation in Rafah is materialising, which can only cause further unacceptable devastating humanitarian consequences.
Immediate ceasefire & unconditional liberation of all hostages are urgent. While famine is unfolding in Gaza, Israel must ensure humanitarian access.

A ground offensive on Rafah is totally unacceptable❗️

It would add a catastrophe to the catastrophe.

I also call on Israel to immediately open the two main crossing points into  #Gaza . No other route can compensate for this.

Met w/ former Palestinian FM Ryad al-Maliki who alerted on the consequences of a ground offensive in #Rafah , also beyond #Gaza .

We also discussed the Palestinian Authority's reform-process and he stressed how urgent and necessary is the EU assistance package for the whole 2024.
