Deployment confirmed for @jaxa_en's Cloud Profiling Radar instrument onboard European Space Agency's #EarthCARE satellite!
As the news states:
' The full deployment of the Earth Cloud Aerosol and Radiation Explorer/Cloud Profiling Radar (EarthCARE/CPR*1) Antenna Main Reflector was confirmed by
And up it went!
Some photos of today’s launch of European Space Agency’s #EarthCARE satellites.
Enjoy🛰️☺️
#EarthCARE made it to space! I want to thank all the teams involved for their effort, dedication and passion:
we have a mission!
We have confirmation that #EarthCARE ’s first deployment is complete: the satellite has spread its solar wing, and is generating power.
We have a mission!
#EarthCARE is now talking to us from space: the ground station in South Africa has picked up the signal from the satellite.
Separation complete: #EarthCARE is alone in space for the first time.
The satellite will now automatically deploy its solar array and begin transmitting telemetry.
Next up: the all-important ‘acquisition of signal’ from Hartebeesthoek ground station in South Africa in approx.
#EarthCARE is now on internal power.
It will remain so until its solar array is fully deployed and has begun converting sunlight to electricity in orbit.
The spacecraft is ready for launch.
