“Supporting federal marijuana decriminalization means supporting the removal of marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act, not changing its scheduling.”- Cat Packer on why descheduling is the only way to truly decriminalize & end harms of prohibition.

We’re proud to help pass the RESTORE Act. Great story quoting our ED Kassandra Frederique “This is for people who’ve been incarcerated, who are leaving & now are trying to come back into society…This is a public health issue. People should eat. Food security is important for anyone.”

We joined community groups in NYC to protest Mayor Adams’s leaning into criminalization instead of care. Criminalization not only disrupts treatment for those who seek it, but it also saddles people with criminal records that can serve as barriers to jobs, housing, and services.

Communities deserve housing, not handcuffs. Listen to Mercedes Elizalde discuss why arresting people doesn’t solve the housing crisis. We deserve real solutions like housing, healthcare, and support services!

Betty Aldworth of MAPS is right: “Public safety would be better served—more lives would be saved—if the dollars spent on workplace testing for fentanyl were immediately diverted to evidence-based treatment and overdose prevention activities.'

When politicians call for more criminalization, they ignore 50+ years of failure.
Drug arrests feed the cycle of incarceration every 31 sec. A record can be a barrier to jobs, housing, & services.
We must shift away from arrests & towards addiction services & social supports.
