this seems so important to remember in the “your feelings are valid” era. yes, your feelings are real + your wounds deserve tending. but where did those feelings originate — the current moment or some past experience? your sense of entitlement or your commitment to justice?

The only advice I can give to aspiring book authors is celebrate every step. The proposal, the contract, each chapter draft, the final draft, the copy edits. Be sure to celebrate when the book is only yours, before it’s out into the world of critique or recognition.
