Congratulations Triston B.B.J. Smith MD. FSCAI!! We all look forward to your leadership. SCAI Now’s DEI committee and Association of Black Cardiologists’s new Interventional 🫀 Committee should be joined at the hip. 5 years ago, I founded my consulting firm Advancing Health Equity. 4 years ago, I made a leap of faith and left my career in academic medicine. I was scared. So scared, but I stayed the course. Today, I received a thank you note from the United Nations’s President of the General Assembly.
Honored to give the Chapman Deans lecture Vanderbilt School of Medicine April 29. Topic: “Standing Firm: Making the Evidence-Based Argument for Diversity Amidst the Anti-DEI Backlash.” Looking forward to seeing my Vanderbilt peeps, making new friends, and leading crucial conversations. My 1st “Chair’s Clinical Conference” with Howard University Medicine Residents is a wrap! This is my time to be alone with them and walk through a case. I’ve been planning this since before I arrived! The goal: influence the development of these young Drs to uphold HU’s lofty mission.
#HappyDoctorsDay to all doctors everywhere. Harnessing science to improve people’s lives, one person at a time. Such an incredible calling. I am one of you, but I am in awe of you and the fact this is what you chose to do with your life. Cheers to you. Howard University
