Tomorrow, junior doctors will strike. A full 72 hr walkout It isn’t the first time I have striked as a dr; I didn’t think there would be a second time post-2016, but here we are. I’m so glad and so proud ✊🏻 The decision wasn’t easy. However, it is the RIGHT one. Let us unite.

‘They expect you to have nothing else in your life. No family, no other responsibilities, no hobbies, no life. They expect you to drop everything.’ I spoke to junior doctors about why they're on strike this week. tribunemag.co.uk/2023/03/bleedi…

In 2009 I was paid £15/hr as a pool lifeguard. In 2023 I have a BSc, a masters, a medical degree, surgical postgrad exams and teach junior doctors. They pay me £19.10/hr before tax. Many operations don't take the full hour to complete. #JuniorDoctorsStrike

The Government has left us with no option but to strike. Today thousands of us went to Whitehall and made it clear: We are not backing down. #JuniorDoctorsStrike

Here’s my payslip as a first year doctor in 2005, next to a first year doctor colleague’s in 2023. 18 years later, their take home salary is less than mine was. I lived for free in hospital accommodation and had a fraction of their student loan. #JuniorDoctorsStrike

A GP here now replaced by a PA It means: 1) less appointments available (GPs can do 3-6x work of PAs) 2) worse outcomes due to far less clinical expertise 3) knock on impact to hospital nearby with more patients having to access due to delays in care 4) cost more to the tax

A fair summary of a complicated topic from BBC Panorama and expert commentary from Prof Cath Mummery . This debate and challenge has got to be better than just repeated failed trials.

It was amazing to brainstorm on a topic I’m so passionate about, followed by such a rewarding collaboration process led by our lead author Shevonne Matheiken. Getting the Editor’s Choice Award is just the cherry on top! Raj KD രാജീവ് കൃഷ്ണദാസ് BJPsych Journals
