There is a reason Real Madrid are the worst opponents on earth. Hope. Every man who has rotted here over the centuries has looked up to the light and imagined climbing to freedom. So easy. So simple.

This is really good on Darwin Nuñez. I’m absolutely in the “keep” camp. Still think he can be a really influential player for .

Sat on the train to work reading an article from Josh Williams on Arne Slot by the numbers and see a new podcast episode just dropped. I can’t recommend Josh’s Substack enough. Consistent flow of highly informative content.

A brilliant read by Josh Williams breaking down the numbers behind Arne Slot’s Feyenoord and their dominance of the eredivisie.

Anyway, I write all this because where I still writing that newsletter this piece on Darwin Nunez by Josh Williams would definitely be top pick of the week. A nuanced, data driven analysis of one of the most polarising Liverpool players.

I’d be surprised if Edwards looked at Nunez this summer and saw a problem who needs to be sold. You don’t recruit good finishers using data, you recruit players who get good shots.

Spoke about this on a recent Josh Williams podcast.

Opta non-pen big chances are converted 39% of the time. When Liverpool have been losing this season, they've scored just three of 23, 13%.

They've been fine when drawing (39.1%) or ahead (40.8%). But not with more pressure.
