Since my dads accident it’s been very apparent that we have a specific discomfort with 30-50 year old women’s grief. I think it’s because it disrupts our ability to be of service, and that is how almost everyone relates to us. We are a set of tasks, not people.

I used to feel really bad when I start something new (and fail spectacularly).

Then I learnt that the word ‘amateur’ came from ‘amare’ in Latin, which means ‘to love’, the journey I’m embarking seems more doable and forgiving.

Because it started with love.

I am turning 29 in two weeks and here is 29 pieces of advice to young women in their 20's

1. In a world that is telling you that everything is rushing, the least you can do for yourself as a young woman, is to learn to take your time and be gentle with yourself
