I'm giving this a cautious welcome as I want to give Simon Harris TD chance to get measures like this off the ground. However, I'd be able to tell him the issues Dublin faces in 15 minutes over a cup of tea & a kit kat. Moreover, my advice is of no cost to the taxpayer 😇

We have too many criminals on the streets with 200+ convictions or people like him, oddballs out after a meagre period inside. We're soft. I'll vote for whoever can show me they're serious about proper law & order. This is why McEntee is unpopular rte.ie/news/courts/20… via RTÉ

Is it any wonder Sinn Féin are declining in popularity? People who aren't happy with the Government should be able to turn to the opposition for common sense. Instead, our main opposition party is of the belief that building more housing exacerbates the housing crisis. Useless.

Love how our acute NIMBY problem has mainstreamed & everyone can see the issue that's been ignored for years. Call it out not long ago & you were called a right wing ideologue. Same as law & order, same as woeful border management. How about we address problems from their genesis?

In an admission of how badly situation at the IPO has deteriorated Govt is now directing some asylum seekers to another location. Given IPO can clearly no longer safely operate from Mount Street ALL asylum seekers should be directed elsewhere til site is cleared & order restored.

Important interview with resident living right next to the squalid tent encampment at the IPO on Lower Mount St. Sympathetic, but making clear this is no place for 100 tents & despairing of no authorities taking responsibility (full interview from 1h39m)

It is very early days but new DCC CEO Richard Shakespeare appears to be good news for Dublin. Saying all the same things publicly that Dubliners have been saying for years but were shouted down, gaslit and told that every city was as bad.

This is promising from the new Chief Executive of Dublin City Council. The simple fact of acknowledging the problems with inadequate policing, flimsy on-street bin bags, transport capacity and housing output is a start. Has been too much denial in past. Now let's see improvements

This distressing letter from residents living beside the chaotic & evergrowing tent encampment at the IPO shows complete dereliction of duty by Govt. While there is sympathy for the men there this has gone on for 12mths & the impact on local residents & businesses is intolerable.

We're delighted to announce a comprehensive new waste management framework for Dublin is being introduced by Dublin City Council to end the blight of flimsy bin bags on our streets being pecked open by seagulls...

Sorry...

The biggest law and order need is for enhanced sentencing of repeat offenders. A small number of individuals carry out most burglaries, assaults, shoplifting, etc. causing massive social harm. They need taking off the streets. (For context see graph below - data from Sweden)

Second point on . Fans should take a step back & stop haranguing artists that are trying to earn a living. Will you pay their wages if they boycott? This behaviour gets worse every year, it is no wonder broadcasters can find it challenging to sign up established acts.

If floating voters are ever unsure if they're a 'centrist Dad/Mam' or part of the far right (lol) cast an eye over the comments to reinforce the fact you're a centrist. I'm a believer in live & let live, there is no excuse for abusing a public person because you don't approve.

Govt to use empty office blocks to house asylum seekers. Fine. But please avoid the mistake of overconcentrating vast amounts of emergency accommodation all in the same areas. Places like Gardiner Street have been destroyed by emergency accommodation displacing all other activity

Difficult not to feel like was intentionally biased.

From the VT that only highlighted negative elements, to the inclusion of 2 problem drinkers, to the lack of any sort of rebuttal. I had a long conversation with researcher, Give Us The Night were contacted, yet...

'we don't like this,so nobody can have it' the usual backward nonsense in Ireland. Let adults be adults. If Fine Gael want to show they're getting back to basics whilst still maintaining a modern image they need to get this legislation passed. Ditching this is anti business.

If senior FG TD's think going old school Ireland conservative is a vote winner they may think again. Most people want modern policies (such as late opening) but they also, crucially, want common sense. They don't like being nannied and told what they can do, say, think or drink!

Who knew that all parties being pretty much the same (for several years now) and appealing to the same group of voters would lead to them all being broadly unpopular with the majority. I, for one, am absolutely flabbergasted.

Oh dear, oh dear. Fine Gael promotional tweets on Simon Harris are out of touch and prove that nothing has really been learned. Perhaps Simon Coveney can take over post the election and shape it in such a way that the Fine Gael base actually wants.
