I so loved performing poems at Wakefield Jazz tonight. What a band! Jacqui Wicks was sensational. Thank you to the wonderful Pete Rosser for making the beautiful happen. So happy that old friends came to share the joy.

3 years ago, this lovely collection came out on Valley Press …. Each poem is accompanied by a classic song. I’ve been invited by Ralph Dartford and Wakefield Jazz to sing some of the associated tunes. It’s this coming Friday, cracking band, cracking poems … and … PIE!!!!

Michael Donaghy taught me at Birkbeck College, London. I was a working class boy from Basildon who at the time did not know much about poetry. He was brilliant and funny with an astonishing knowledge of poetry that was infectious. I think of him most days.
