Alongside the significant drops in number of unsheltered residents, there was a 19% increase countywide in those accessing shelter, affirming that investments in interim & supportive housing have been effective in supporting people to move into safer & secure living conditions.

Overall homelessness dropped by 3% in Alameda County with the number of unsheltered residents decreasing by 11% from prior levels, according to the 2024 Point in Time (PIT) count results released today.
