It’s decision time. The Department for Culture, Media and Sport must now instruct Arts Council England to revisit its bungled response to the fine aim of increasing funding out of London, involving the unnecessary destruction of a national company English National Opera and damage to opera nationwide. Create a strategy not a shambles.

Tonight in Parliament, I've secured a debate on funding for English National Opera and support for the performing arts. ACE's recent funding decisions are short-sighted and will have a considerable impact on both London and the UK's wider culture sector, putting at risk hundreds of jobs. 1/2
