It’s a year tomorrow since the gender reform bill was passed by Scottish Parliament. Yesterday SNP/Green government admitted defeat and filed it under “pending” probably for ever. Here’s my column from last Christmas - as I predicted, women never gave up scotsman.com/news/opinion/c…

Ash Regan may be on her own in the Scottish Parliament, but she knows how to do her job. The women of Scotland will be very interested in Starmer’s response.

This day last year the beginnings of Women Won’t Wheesht campaign group organised a vigil outside Holyrood on the eve of the final stage of the GRR Bill. A bill that was deeply unpopular with the public.

'Being closely considered by SG' - feels like a bit of a move. No caveat about it being about services in England.

Scottish govt confirms today’s reports it’s not appealing the court judgment on Alistair Jack’s use of section 35 to block the Gender Recognition Reform Bill. Very significant achievement for the Scottish grassroots feminists who opposed bill & forced it up the political agenda.

Given the deputy FM usurped a scheduled statement to Holyrood with an answer in a news programme I wonder how the presiding officer will handle the statement tomorrow. Should they go straight to questions with no statement permitted?

We’re delighted that women’s rights to safety, dignity and privacy will be protected.

However, we have a situation where the guidance for schools is now not only incorrect re EqA, omits legislation, is out of date re EHRC, but promotes self-id that isn’t covered under law.

Nail hit on the head yet again. Laid out here by Lucy, the disgraceful reality of that exhausting, performative time is stark. For shame.

COSLA officers have tonight advised me that today's Scottish budget results in a £251m cash cut to Councils' revenue funding and a £100m cut to capital. The real terms cuts are higher once inflation is taken into account. Council Leaders meet on Thursday to discuss the budget.

Having a roof over your head is the most basic of needs. & yet SNP government has de-prioritised housing at a time of increasing need, with more people presenting to councils for emergency accommodation. A disgraceful decision that will have significant impact on most vulnerable
