The Minister for Small Business Development, Ms Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will attend a church service at the Methodist Church of Southern Africa and use the occasion to outline the services offered by the department.

“The strategy specifically targets entrepreneurs in the informal economy and the focus is mainly on designated groups, i.e. women, youth and people with disabilities, in townships and rural areas of South Africa,” said Minister Ndabeni-Abrahams.

“Through our development agencies, the Seda & sefa, we are capacitating small businesses as we have developed the National Informal Business Upliftment Strategy (NIBUS) which addresses the development void at the lower base of SMME Development” Minister said

“The DSBD portfolio has a number of programmes that seek to support SMMEs and Cooperatives throughout the country through financial and non-financial support to ensure that they are sustainable and competitive,” Minister said.

A total number of 59 informal traders, up and coming businesses as well as SMMEs will be supported with machinery, hand tools and electronic equipment by the department.
