Area and Perimeter is always a challenge but we are using manipulatives and grid paper to solidify our understanding of these challenging concepts!

This is always my favorite end of year science project! Students did an amazing job turning their science vocabulary into illustrated words! Check out some of the creativity for the words Magnetism, Energy, Lifecycle, and Inherited.

We’ve been working hard creating our own Math Board Games. From coming up with directions to writing our own math problems, students have been flexing those math brains! Today we got to play all of the games across fourth grade!

Teaching 4 Blocks of Reading is a new adventure for me…by the end of Day 1 of Launching our Module, I was so excited to see all the different Circle Maps each class generated while brainstorming the meaning of identity! This is going to be an amazing year!

Have you ever had a a lesson where the students do EXACTLY what you had hoped and render you almost useless?!? That was me as students dived into their Figurative Language Bridge Maps with Kitoto the Mighty. I looked around the room at engaged students and just grinned!

Today my students were investigators gathering evidence against the criminals Problem-Solution, Description, and Sequence. They created an artifact to show all of their evidence before diving deeper into the paperwork.

When using The Declaration of Independence as a primary source one MUST charge taxes to the students and crown themselves Queen. How else will the students understand the Central Idea of the text?!

On Word Relationship Wednesday we studied synonyms, antonyms, and homographs with a NY Times style Connections board. Students were tasked with taking 16 words and grouping them based on a common relationship! It was voted a favorite activity by students!

Students working hard to design Text Structure posters to present to the class. They had to define their text structure, create text and graphic features that help explain their text structure, and write a sample paragraph showing their text structure in action!
