Fantastic piece. The “Antibiotic Police” metaphor is corrosive whether it is applied by non-stewards or adopted (often as if as a badge of honor) by stewards themselves.

This. The antibiotic resistance problem starts with diagnostics. Would be interesting to model what % of reduction in resistance would be ameliorated by fast, safe, accurate diagnostics. I suspect it would be very large.
