Preventing domestic homicide and suicide should be a national priority.
I recently published reports by Manchester Metropolitan Uni researchers into the recommendations from domestic homicide reviews.
This blog breaks down the findings for criminal justice agencies:

Domestic abuse services are struggling to meet need since the pandemic and the cost of living crisis.
We must quit lurching from crisis to crisis and establish sustainable funding through the Victims Bill.
Thank you Reeta Chakrabarti for this important story on lifesaving services.

It was a huge step forward to make non fatal strangulation a criminal offence. But every legislative change needs effective implementation.

If this has happened to you, support is available. Visit Surviving Economic Abuse website for help ⬇️

New Victims' Commissioner for England & Wales research shows the importance of victim advocacy.
Many survivors are given lifesaving support by domestic abuse advocates (IDVAs) as part of wider help from DA services.
That's why I'm calling for the #VictimsBill to protect these critical community services.
Much more is needed to give migrant victims of domestic abuse the support they need in this country.
Gov must provide all migrant victims with access to specialist DA support and a route to regularise their status.
Anything short of this simply won't be enough. Southall Black Sisters
This National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC) research shines a light on the links between suicide and domestic abuse.
Abusers must be held to account for their role in suicides.
And every agency must understand the role they play in preventing these deaths.

⚖️ I am looking to hear from survivors of #DomesticAbuse about their experiences of contacting the police.
Your input will help us in our work to hold the police accountable for their domestic abuse response.
