April is Autism Awareness, Action and Acceptance Month, and CHS hosted a fundraiser to raise money for Nassau Suffolk Autism Society of America on Friday.

“Whatever your motivation is, we all have the same goal to make sure that everyone feels included,” math teacher Stephanie Centore said.

Superintendent Dr. Jordan Cox presented Curriculum Associate For Secondary Education Dr. Jennifer Santorello with the Commack Star Award on Wednesday.

“Dr. Santorello never shies away from any task thrown her way, and she always does it with a smile,” Dr. Cox said.

Spectacular start to Superintendent's Conference Day on Wednesday with keynote speaker George Couros! 'I can feel your enthusiasm,' Couros told the capacity crowd of educators inside the CHS auditorium.

CHS students had a great time watching the eclipse Monday afternoon on the football field! ☀️🌕

Third graders from Sawmill and Burr Intermediate Schools planted cabbages Monday morning at the Marion Carll Farm in Commack. Students planted the cabbages in pots during enrichment classes and cared for them, fed them, and even read books to them before giving them a new home.

This morning, we hosted the inaugural Big ‘Mack Throwing Invitational at CHS! Over 85 female and male athletes from across Long Island and upstate New York competed in throwing events.

CHS students Matt Chaco and Mehek Sawhney showed off the district's planned activities ahead of Monday’s solar eclipse.

“It’s amazing that the kids within our district are able to understand it and truly get a glimpse of how spectacular this piece of nature is.” Sawhney said.

First-graders at Wood Park Primary School had the opportunity to meet some new friends Thursday morning, as Sweetbriar Nature Center visited their science lab. Students were each given a chance to “pinky pet” a turtle, snake, porcupine, and rabbit, and gaze at an owl’s feathers.

Students in our CP program proudly engage in Service Learning projects, including partnering with the Daniela Conte Foundation and Commack Little League to host a “Swing for a Cure” event. Join us on May 25 and 26 to cheer on the participants!

Donna Sandak’s kindergarten class participated in the “Grandfriends” program Wednesday morning at North Ridge Primary School. As part of an ongoing partnership with The Bristal, senior residents have an opportunity to come read a book to primary school students each week.

Superintendent Dr. Jordan Cox appeared as a guest today on The Innovator's Mindset Podcast hosted by George Couros. In the episode that is scheduled to air at a later date, Dr. Cox discussed the cutting edge innovative programs that are being introduced in Commack Schools.

Commack once again has been selected a Best Community for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation.

The awards program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of the curriculum.

Superintendent Dr. Jordan Cox presented Frann Weinstein from the district's accounts payable department with the Commack Star Award for April. The Commack Star is awarded to district employees who demonstrate exemplary achievement, contribution and performance in their roles.

CHS business students visited the Fox News Headquarters/Media Studios in Manhattan. Students received a behind-the-scenes tour and enjoyed a meet and greet with broadcast personalities and executives from sales and production.
