Heads up boaters! When you’re out on the water, give way to commercial traffic.

Larger vessels are harder to maneuver, especially in narrower waterways such as rivers. Help keep everyone safe by avoiding large vessels at all times and giving them plenty of space. #SafetyFirst

Under our #ComplianceAndEnforcementProgram , we’ve issued a $15,000 penalty to a vessel owner for failing to remove their hazardous vessel from Jericho Beach #Vancouver .

It's the start of the busiest season on the water and our #SearchAndRescue coverage is expanding thanks to our 9 #Atlantic Inshore Rescue Boat stations that are now open and operational!

There are more than 16 million recreational boaters on Canadian waters and to them nice weather means fun on the water!

This #BoatingSafetyWeek , we remind you to:

- Drive sober

- Check the weather

Fishing? Sailing? Paddling? Tomorrow, we’re opening 4 Inshore Rescue Boat stations to provide extra coverage in key areas along the #BritishColumbia coast.

From May to September, our crews will respond to incidents and other emergency situations.
