EDD=Block Recognition

It is important to incorporate block recognition as a EDD drill with the DL. Here, we work on reading base, down and pass set. DL’s backs to me, OL looks at me, I give OL the block I want them to execute, DL’s eyes need to key near shoulder tip. # #Mudpit

One of my favorite DL Drills: Hips on a can with no hands.

Objective: Hip Activation

Why no hands? Isolates the hips so that it forces the DL to focus on bringing the torque with their hips as they are delivering hand strike. Builds strong hips at the same time. #MUDPIT

DL start in a fit position on either side. I yell out 3-verbal cues:

1. FEET- DL feet start moving

2. NAIL-Lock out

3. FINISH-Get skinny, climb the ball and hip back on down block to finish through.
