'We're such an instant gratification era ... We're trying to skip the step of adversity and growth ... but we're gonna have to face it.

Sometimes the grass isn't greener on the other side. Sometimes you're just trading one set of problems for another.'

KIRBY SMART ON BEING GREAT

'There's one way. The right way. The hard way. There are no shortcuts.

When the alarm goes off...if you wanna be a really good player, you're gonna get up & go to class.

You've gotta do something somebody else isn't willing to do.'

We should all take a moment to remember and honor the unbelievable sacrifice Pat Tillman made for this country.

Walking away from millions in the NFL to go serve in the US Army post 9/11 is not a choice many would make.

And yet, Pat not only sacrificed his millions and a NFL

PLAYERS: Talent is just a starting point. Just because you have talent doesn't mean you're good. You maximize your success when your work ethic, attitude, hustle, and consistency start to match the level of your talent.

GENO AURIEMMA ON ENTHUSIASM
'If your body language is bad, you'll never get into the game ... I'd rather lose than watch kids play the way some kids play.

They're always thinking about themselves. Me, me, me ... When I watch game film, I'm checking what's going on the bench.'

PARENTS: One day, our kids will be finished playing sports and they will be adults raising their own kids. The best thing that we can do now is to teach them how to be good, happy people so they can, in turn, one day raise good, happy people.

KIRK HERBSTREIT ON PARENTING

'I'm cool with my kids failing... It's part of the process. Every day there is adversity... They have to learn how to deal with junk... It's okay to make a mistake. Get back up and let's keep going forward.'

SARK ON CULTURE
'It is not a sign in your building. It's not a t-shirt you wear. It's not breaking the team down & saying Culture on 3 ... Who you are some of the time is who you are all of the time.'

Culture is lived out on a daily basis.

COACHES: YES, players should be self-motivated. YES, players should bring energy to practice. YES, bored players may lack a desire to be good. BUT the reality is most players are not yet where they need to be. Most players need motivation. The best coaches find ways to help.
