Ian Borsuk Environment Hamilton is a long time advocate for a public LRT. He asks: Why is this such a controversial decision if this is up to Metrolinx in the end? If City Council basically has no say why is there such push back? He reads a letter from Nate Wallace at EnvironmentalDefence👇

“Unfortunately, the budget does not address the needs of young people, seniors and families who cannot afford to buy a car and rely on public transit every day.”

Income from wealth should not be taxed half as much as income from work.

The 2024 budget moves this dial so that income from wealth is now taxed 2/3rds as much as income from work.

It’s a good move, but they could have gone further.

Confirmed: The Federal Government has hit the pause button on public transit funding until after the next election. In the middle of a climate crisis.

While municipalities facing major shortfalls are forced to cut service and hike fares, Doug Ford turns his back on transit riders.

The Federal Government must step in and invest in transit operations - for the good of our planet and communities.

Canada is bracing for another devastating wildfire szn. It's disappointing to see our national climate convo stuck in a loop on rolling back an important, tho insufficient, policy. Instead we should be focusing on the additional climate & affordability policies so direly needed.

Ruh-roh!😨

We're stuck on crowded buses *now*, we can't wait for another election

That's why Movement needs to grow; there's strength in numbers!

The feds will keep ignoring transit riders until they can't anymore.

This plan confirms the federal government’s intention to continue to delay the implementation of the permanent public transit fund to after the next election along with its requirements to spur density near transit.

Pretty damning result for plug-in hybrids here.
If you're an automaker pushing these, you should publish data on how much they're being used in electric mode.

This is why plug-in hybrids are not the actual climate solution they’ve been cracked up to be. They should not be given subsidies or treated remotely equivalently to battery electric vehicles.
