MARATHONER Jenny Simpson.
After unfortunately dropping out of the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, Jenny Simpson decided to give it another go. Today, the former 1500m world champion ran 2:31:39 to finish as the fourth American in the 2024 Boston Marathon.

Emma Bates valiantly led the women's field for much of the race and came away with top American honors in 2:27:14 โ her first race back since withdrawing from the 2024 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials due to injury.

Kenya's Hellen Obiri defends her #BostonMarathon crown in 2:22:37.
She is the first back-to-back champion since Catherine Ndereba in 2004 and 2005.

Hellen Obiri is pulling away now. She's looking to put a wrap on her back-to-back Boston Marathon titles.
This should be enough for the Athletics Kenya selectors to put her on the Olympic team. #BostonMarathon
Sharon Lokedi and Hellen Obiri just dropped a 4:41 mile at Mile 24.
They are CLOSING hard.

Two months after a fifth place finish at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, C.J. Albertson returns to Boston and finishes as the top American in 2:09:53 for 7th place overall.
That improves upon his 10th place finish from 2021.

America's Emma Bates has moved into the lead by running the tangents. She's making a slight move on the pack of 18 women. Is this the breakaway?!
She hit 30K in 1:43:27 โ which puts her on pace for a 2:25:30.

From Mile 20 to Mile 21, Evans Chebet and John Korir and Mohamed Esa have cut 20 seconds into Sissay Lemma's lead. The Ethiopian is still up 2:29 on them.

She's been leading this entire time. The women hit the 20K mark in 1:08:42, which puts them at an estimated 2:24 finish.
