There are amazing people at labels and distributors who genuinely care. But the reality is they’re overloaded. There are too many artists and not enough bandwidth. And no, that’s not an excuse. They want (need!) more help just as badly as artists do.

Today I pressed play on 13 new albums, each with 10+ tracks. I finished only one start-to-finish. On the other 12, I made it, on average, to track four. This is why sequencing deserves greater obsession. The listener decides early. I might have missed out. I'll never know.
