The late, great Roger Corman also deserves credit for recognizing the talent of Stephanie Rothman, who became the first woman to direct a Hollywood narrative feature after Ida Lupino (and before Elaine May) under his watch.

Legend and godfather to The New Hollywood (& way beyond) his influence on cinema was/is immense. A friend said “he’ll be negotiating with god for Demme to shoot on the backlot of heaven and get those 3 days Vincent Price still owes him” RIP Roger Corman
