A few weeks ago, we were thrilled to host a special 90th birthday celebration for Vic, Churchill Archives Centre's first Conservator.🎂🎉

Vic, known then as Conservationist, joined the Archives Centre in 1969 and retired in 1996 after working here for 29 years in 1998.

Today we were excited to welcome some new Archive Assistants to our team.

Sarah, our senior Conservator, gave some training on how to handle different types of archival material, invigilate our Reading Room, host exhibitions, & retrieve material from our archive.📚📒🖼️

Look closely and you can see the colour difference in the right section, which has already been cleaned!

Whilst repackaging the papers of Sir Richard (Otto) Clarke, our conservator stumbled across this document, instructing people on the proper care to be taken when despatching mines, after one was found in lost property!

The reading room will be closed to readers during the Easter bank holidays. We will close tomorrow (Thursday 28th March) at 5pm and reopen on Tuesday 2nd April at 9am.
