Politicians say they’ll do whatever it takes to stop the boats & the drownings.

But the one thing they won’t do is give people safe alternative ways to travel.
So we’ll always be waiting for the next tragedy.

Safe routes are the only thing that will stop the smugglers

“I’m amazed we’ve had to fight tooth & nail to get this passed” says Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP of which disaplies human rights, puts the UK in breach of its international legal obligations & is a shameless power grab that will put the Government above the law

The DWP is demanding 34,500 people, carers and those with disabilities, pay back benefits or face up to £20,000 fines whilst Sunak has spaffed over half a billion on his Rwanda vanity project which “will cost £1.8m for each of the first 300 deportees” say the National Audit

“Broken Britain” this was the rallying cry of Brexiteers. Their solution was to “Take back control” it was actually code for “TEAR DOWN YOUR FUTURE”
Mark Carney. We miss him!

The Government's cruel Rwanda Bill will now become law

It rips human rights away from people who come to the UK hoping for safety for them and their loved ones

With Freedom from Torture🧡 + Amnesty UK, we transformed Parliament to let everyone know about this crime against compassion

Great to answer questions from @GHMagazine readers on everything from why NHS reform is personal to me, to my commitment to net zero and my determination to halve violence against women and girls.

Under the Tories, rural crime rates are surging faster than in urban areas, with organised crime, rural theft and antisocial behaviour.

Only Labour will stand up for our rural communities.

More than 6,000 people have crossed the English Channel in small boats this year. But where exactly are people coming from, and why are they risking their lives to come here?

Our UK Editor Sima Kotecha takes a look.

“I can’t swim & I thought maybe I will die. But did I have another option to make it here? No”

An Iranian who crossed the Channel in a small boat describes risking his life – and says the threat of deportation to Rwanda won’t stop people trying:

Nima Moradi left Iran because he says he was targetted by the regime. He told us the risk of drowning in the Channel to get here was a gamble he was prepared to take, & Rwanda won’t stop people

He was granted asylum by the Home Office in 2023 👇

To my fellow Londoners: I’ve no political affiliation, but, in all the circumstances, I think the right thing to do. During a bloody awful time, Sadiq Khan has always sought to unite, never to divide; to calm, never to agitate. I’ve met him and talked to him and believe him to be

If they ever get a plane to agree to fly to Rwanda with asylum seekers, it will be illegal abduction, kidnap and tantamount to torture.
That is the Conservative government in 2024.
Morally bankrupt.

To be clear: this was not a question about domestic politics - it was about our long-term defence commitment.

If, as polls suggest, the Tories lose next election then all their future plans go with them.

Anybody who cares about our security will want to know what comes next
