I’ll never let go of how bad The Rise of Skywalker was.

When I visited Italy, I noticed that I walked everywhere. I walked to get pizza, walked to get gelato, and walked back to my hotel. Italians even have a term (passeggiata) for the leisurely strolls they take after dinner. In the US, cities are much more oriented around cars.

The average cost of a new car now is absolutely wild. I bought my car ~6 years ago and it was below-average then but didn't seem 'cheap,' but compared to now it seems crazy inexpensive. My car cost+the cost of the 5 ebikes we've owned still doesn't come close to today's average!

It was never useful. The issue was always land use policy. Gentrification as a concept doesn’t exist without all the poor, lazy, regressive (and likely racist) short-sighted policies that squandered the mid-century boom. This story is recursive across the economy.
