These shorts from the #InternationalBooker2024 shortlist are incredible.
Here is a reading from NOT A RIVER by Selva Almada, tr. Annie McDermott. Our thanks to the very talented David Jonsson for giving us shivers with his reading, and to The Booker Prizes for making this happen.

Loving the enthusiasm, Bobby Seagull …but on a date?? 😬 Please do report back on how that goes! 😅
A wonderful tour stop on Thursday with NYS Writers Institute at University at Albany. Paul Grondahl, the director, and his staff were wonderful hosts and gave us a warm welcome.
A note of appreciation to the 2024 Republic of Consciousness Prize judges Sana Goyal Kotecha, Rebecca Abrams and 𝔻𝕖𝕔𝕝𝕒𝕟 𝕆'𝔻𝕣𝕚𝕤𝕔𝕠𝕝𝕝. We do not envy the decisions you were faced with, with such a great long and short list for the prize! Thank you for all the effort and heart you put in.

Bit late here to be opening the bubbly but what the heck... So delighted for this powerful little book by Ana Paula Maia, trans. Zoë Perry Republic of Consciousness Prize Charco Press
Clare Lavery Gabriela Cabezón Cámara describes it in the intro, yet it remains obscure until we read and realize what is occurring.
And, reliably as ever, there is the brilliant Charco Press cover by #PabloFont that illustrates in tandem, the message.
Wow.
The concise structure of this book.
The presentation of voices, how what is left quiet, resounds so loudly.
Utterly compelling. Unsupported, it navigates the path to undermining a victim, how protection of self from outside gaze hangs a victim out to dry.
