Lovely to have Jackie Kay back in the shop - and we now have signed copies of her brand new poetry collection, May Day.
It's always a great time at Hexham Book Festival – excited for it to start next weekend! Feat. Clare Balding, Jackie Kay, Francis Spufford, Sarah Perry, and many more wonderful writers. Check out the full programme below 👇
Great interview with Percival Everett by Ellen Peirson-Hagger & a fine portrait by Cian Oba-Smith accompanying it in this week's The New Statesman #JAMES newstatesman.com/culture/books/…
My 4th book of the century so far is James by the amazing Percival Everett . It’s one of those books which need space after reading Pan Macmillan . Quite stunning 🤩
The Line of Beauty came out from Picador Books 20 years ago today. Won The Booker Prizes (then Man) in an insane year. Endlessly delicious, artful, heartbreaking novel. Kensington Pk Gdns looking pretty Hollinghursty when I passed earlier (one of these pics arguably a spoiler)
'My Culture Fix' in The Times and The Sunday Times is such a great feature, & I particularly love this one from Jackie Kay; enjoy having a poke around in her cultural touchstones! Jackie's magnificent new collection MAY DAY is out next week; don't miss her on tour. ❤️🌹 thetimes.co.uk/article/jackie…
James by Percival Everett. He's done it again. Another superb novel from the outrageously talented Everett. A 5* read for me. #PercivalEverett
Entranced by Jackie Kay brilliant new collection #MayDay Picador Books Wonderful to see inclusion of Flag Up Scotland Jamaica, commissioned by University of Glasgow to mark their historic report 'Slavery, Abolition & University of Glasgow' Beniba Centre for Slavery Studies
Oh Jackie Kay of course your next book of new poems is called Mayday. It has me in tears on the first poem and now I have just read 'A Life in Protest' and Jackie Kay I am moved again to happy tears. What a book! I can't wait to hear the world welcome it on 25th April.
You *may* have seen me mention #JAMES by Percival Everett on here... If you want to know more, you'd be hard-pushed to find a better intro to it than the 💯discussion of it on BBC Front Row with Dreda Say Mitchell, Bidisha & Tom Sutcliffe. Cue to 20:09 bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0…
