Fairly quiet on the Raccoonobahn, traffic should pick up as we get closer to Summer and the young are out and about.

Two house cats, raccoons and a skunk.

Julius Cheeser, the house mouse, visiting the water dish. I've seen all the Cheeser family (total of 4 mice) in the garden lately.

One of our local white-tailed jackrabbits triggers my camera back in February 2024. I'm slowing going through my Winter camera cards.

Finished working on the internal mods for this camera, can focus from 0.5in to near infinity. I've set it for 6 inches here.
Saw our first hummingbird today at this feeder so this setup will let me know if it comes back. A fun project for this cold, rain/snowy day.

Nest progression 4 April - 26 April 2024.

Raining heavily now, 36F, maybe 1in snow possible so the wasps are on the nest resting.

Timelapse of the rain over the mountains today. More rain tomorrow, possibly up to an inch, snow showers not out of the question.

Another egg laid today followed by the touching of the egg with antennae. The paper wasps have a schedule where they typically work from 9 - 5 as long as the weather is warm enough for them.

Raccoons and skunks (Not Kevin and Wulfric) on the Raccoonobahn overnight.

End of video has an interaction between Not Kevin and a raccoon. Not Kevin didn't spray as no need, raccoon wasn't a threat and skunks prefer not to spray if it can be avoided. With audio. ❤️🦨❤️

I just liked his reflection in this screenshot from video.
Ever Present, the squirrel, being ever present. 🐿️❤️

Ever Present, the squirrel, proving he is ever present in the garden. I get multiple videos of him and his family every day.

Not sure which skunk this is, think it's new to the garden based on stripe pattern. It's not Not Kevin (😁) or Wulfric.

Chipping sparrow in the water dish. Chipping sparrows are migrating through our area at the moment.

Actual temp: 70F yesterday, camera sits out in sun and temp sensor is inaccurate.

A few of the visitors to the birdbath.

Canyon towhee, white-breasted nuthatch, collared dove, American robins.

I'm so pleased the canyon towhee's are staying around, would love them to stay all year.

A behaviour I've seen after each egg is laid.

Egg was laid this morning and as soon as laid she (Queen) touches the egg with her antennae, typically each side of egg as in this photo. It's amazing how they dote on the eggs/nest and hopefully larvae soon.
