The UK Govt's efforts to present Art 2 of the Windsor Framework as not generating enforceable legal obligations is bizarre in the context of the measure - it can't be squared with the assurances given to NI at the time of Brexit:

This story was more than a year in the making.

Now The Guardian and +972 Magazine can draw back the curtain on Israel’s secret war against the ICC, waged everywhere from Kinshasa to New York. Part 1 here, part 2 out this afternoon: theguardian.com/world/article/…

Tonight someone in CCHQ is, with all the sincerity they can muster, shouting LET RISHI BE RISHI. So far no one else is listening, so we get to witness moments like this:

The Gardaí's Operation Sonnet, and the associated returns, working to full effect this weekend. An effort to show that all of the inter-state ructions of last month have had little impact on the ground?

My concerns remain (a) a lack of outlets for investigative reporting - bulletins don’t have the space for a 7-15 min story; (b) loss of culture of story-breaking (main news desks were terrified of taking our reports on Commons harassment); (c) loss of internal challenge.

'Consensus can be a useful thing, but a Court does not need consensus as much as it needs clarity.' Punchy as it should be.

This by the tireless Dr Juliette McIntyre will be of great interest to all scholars working on legal interpretation and legal reasoning (and judicial politics)

Election means Westminster committees have to rush out any conclusions to inquiries they’ve been holding, generally as a letter to the Minister. Here the NI Affairs Ctte summarise evidence they heard on ECHR withdrawal

There's a lot in this Bill that is pretty awful altogether, alongside some things that were necessary. It should not have been allowed to be rushed through in full with such truncated scrutiny - but then, it's clearly hard to effectively fillet a measure in the wash up rush.

Liz Truss found local media so awkward, with their silly specific questions, that Sunak has decided to cut them out altogether if his NI visit is anything to go by:

In 1951 Arendt wrote: 'It is quite conceivable that one fine day a highly organized and mechanized humanity will conclude quite democratically — namely by majority decision — that for humanity as a whole it would be better to liquidate certain parts thereof'
