The council met last night to discuss the application for 1600 houses on St John's College, Cambridge grade 1 farmland. Birchington councillors and residents spoke eloquently against the application. Great turnout of campaigners show we stand against houses on farmland! #FoodSecurity

Absolutely wonderful news for Birchington. The motion to ‘defer and delegate’ the application for 1600 houses was REFUSED by a large majority last night. We wait to see what happens next but this is a brilliant stand against the march of unaffordable development on farmland!!
