The physical therapists at The Pavilion in Flushing provide critical rehabilitation care to the residents there, and they deserve a fair contract that delivers a livable wage. Today, my office joined them and 1199SEIU💫 at a rally to show support for their fight.

The culture and traditions of Ou-Yue were on full display on Sanford Avenue this past Sunday at the Second North American Ou-Yue Cultural Festival. A big thank you to the organizers of this festival, which in one year grew from an event in the park to a daylong street festival.

When vandals destroyed 300 recently planted trees in Kissena Park, it wasn’t just an affront to the Flushing community, it was an insult to the people who volunteered countless hour to plant them. This morning, I joined them and NYC Parks to begin planting 300 replacements.

The first of two virtual meetings hosted by NYC Water to discuss the Cloudburst Kissena Hub Project is taking place tonight from 6-7 PM. If you can’t make this meeting, you will have another opportunity tomorrow from 1-2 PM. Be sure to register in advance.

Promise Church is the largest Korean church in NYC. Since 1973, it has grown from Rev. Nam Soo Kim and 15 members to approximately 5,000 parishioners today. On Sunday, we presented a City Council Proclamation to Rev. Kim on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

I joined Chinese Christian Herald Crusades on Friday to help them kick off the first-ever “National Chinese American Pink Ribbon Conference,” a three-day event to call attention to the issue of breast cancer in the Asian community and the importance of getting tested annually.
