Excited to share our new paper on which types of immune cells invade solid prostate tumors in mice, and their ability to carry anti-cancer liposomes tethered to their surface into the tumor. The last thesis chapter of the amazing Dr. Korie Grayson! 🧵

Thank you again to UC San Diego Bioengineering for inviting me to visit and give the 2024 Dr. Richard Skalak Memorial Lecture… I enjoyed meeting with many old and new friends, and even spotted a charming little cottage cantilevered out from a rooftop which made an interesting little side quest!

In 2019 my fellow dept chairs elected me to lead the BME Council of Chairs, which is affiliated with Biomedical Engineering Society but also meets at the AIMBE Annual Event. My predecessors Robert Kirsch, Ph.D. , Martine LaBerge, and Eric Perrault taught me a lot and made me feel so welcome!

A little while later I became a dept chair myself, and AIMBE quickly became a can’t-miss event for me, along with Biomedical Engineering Society . Where else can you meet up with great friends like Prof. Lola Eniola-Adefeso , and cheer on your Fellow nominees and colleagues?

Now that we’ve wrapped up a very successful 2024 AIMBE Annual Event and I’m rotating off the leadership team, I wanted to share a brief 🧵 on my AIMBE experiences and express gratitude to all the great folks I’ve gotten to work with along the way…

Just your annual reminder that if you submit a manuscript and all of your suggested reviewers have Gmail/163/yahoo/hotmail email addresses instead of institutional emails, that’s practically disqualifying. Same goes for letters of recommendation. Think about it, and thanks!

Listen up folks: I asked ChatGPT to illustrate the right and wrong way to: (i) process fluorescence images of cells, (ii) perform a western blot, and (iii) design a mouse study of sufficient power. Avoid these classic lab mistakes! Follow me for more tips on scientific rigor

Just received this handsome trophy commemorating my 2024 Chris Jacobs Award for Excellence in Leadership, thank you!
Also, the @CMBE special interest group is currently accepting self-nominations for new council members, consider getting more involved!
